Activity Name : Think - Write - Pair - Share
Scenario: This activity will be used for many different scenarios but this particular one will be for a third grade class consisting of 21 students age 7. I will read a grade level appropriate story out loud to the class. I will then pose a question about the book that helps bring out critical thinking. Once the students have had some time to think about their answer I will have them write their answers and pair up and discuss what they thought. After a little bit of time, I will have the pairs share their answers with the while class then repeat the process until I have asked all my questions. Benefits: This activity promotes teamwork and deeper thinking. Discussion allows the students to bounce ideas off each other and help get knowledge off of other peoples previous experiences. This activity can be used for most subjects and can be used for a quick activity or as long as you need to. Potential Problems: When students are paired up, the discussions can easily become distracted from the assigned topic. I will need to make sure and walk around the room to keep students on task and make sure the noise levels do not get too high.
